After she died he got together with Frances in 1870 who was married to William Kay at the time and had had 1 son and 3 daughters with him and they had 6 daughters before her divorce to William Kay and 1 son after her divorce in 1885. Frances had previously had 1 son and 3 daughters with William. |

David Dixon (1841-1928) was born on the 12th March 1841 in Retford, Nottinghamshire, England. He married Mary Jones. Both Mary & David's parents were listed as passengers on the 'London' which sailed from Gravesend, England on the 2nd January 1842 and arrived in Wellington, New Zealand on the 1st May 1842. David was listed as a passenger aged 8 months. Mary's sister, also named Mary, was aged six months on the passenger list and is recored as having died on the voyage. In the 1841 UK Census David Dixon can be found aged 4 months living with his parents Charles and Mary Dixon in Clareborough, Nottinghamshire. In the house next door were his maternal grandparents John and Mary Kirton with their children Susanna, Ann, Thomas, James and Fanny. Mary Dixon nee Jones died in 1867 following the birth of David percy Jones Dixon. David's cousin Fanny Kay nee Hessey (daughter of Joseph Hessey & Jane Kirton ) left her husband in Australia and moved to Masterton, New Zealand to be David's housekeeper and to help raise his four children from his first marriage. David and Fanny had six daughters together before Fanny was able to get a divorce from her estranged husband in Australia. Fanny and David married on the 14th October 1885 in Masterton, New Zealand. Fanny died in Masterton on the 18th September 1906 and David died in Masterton on the 17th September 1928. |
