Note	Sir Richard Venables, of Bollin, son of Hugh, 9th Baron of Kinderton, married Joan (Jane) daughter and heir of Hamon Fitton of Bollin-fee, Maxfield Hundred. Bollin was the home of the Fitton family, and was located outside of Wimslow, northeast of Knutsford in Cheshire. Joan was the sole heir of her brother Peter Fitton, and as such brought Bollin and the manor of Thornton to her husband. Sir Richard and Jane were the parents of William and Jenkine (John). Joan was deceased by 1397 when her son, William, was noted as her son and heir and 12 years of age. He was born in 1386. Evidently he had some difficulties. In 1347, Edward of Woodstock, Prince of Wales petitioned the king asking that Richard Venables be delivered to him so that he could be returned to Cheshire, where he could be tried for felonies committed in the county. Richard was imprisoned in Newgate Prison in London. He was pardoned in 1348.
