Note	<b>FRANCIS STURGILL</b> and his wife <b>RUTH BISHOP</b> made teir firsthome in Wise County, Virginia, USA but moved to Letcher County, Kentucky, USA about 1832 where all their children except the first were born. In Letcher Co. they settled on a branch of the Cumberland River which is known to the present time as "Frank's Creek". During the civil war they moved back to Wise Co. andsettled in Powells valley where they lived out their lives. They are buried in the Robinett cemetery near Big Stone Gap.
Note	Ruth Bishop — View this family There is some question as to the identity of Ruth, wife of Francis. Some say she was a Bishop, d/o Franklin and Lavina Bishop. Ruth Sturgill is named in the will of Francis Gilley.
