Note	Notes Cokayne's "Complete Peerage", (Essex, pp.120-121). She was the heir tothe Earldom of Essex upon the childless death of her nephew William deMandeville (RIN 8178*). She was of great age, her eldest son, WILLIAM,having predeceased her12 years earlier. Her only surviving son, Geoffreyde Say, was allowed to occupy her place, but he failed to pay the 7000marks fine for the succession and was dissiezed. Then the husband ofBeatrice's granddaughter, also named BEATRICE (DE SAY), GEOFFREYFITZPIERS, was allowed to inherit the earldom.
