[Hahn-Powell-Ford.FTW] As far as the progenitor of the family in PA, we know that in 1737Wilhelm Kraft Rabenalt and Magdalena Bauer Rabenalt (she was the daughterof a baker from Lichtenberg) settled in PA. They had been married may 30,1730. They arrived on August 30, 1737 on the ship SAMUEL, from Rotterdam, last from Cowes. The ship landed in Philadelphia with some 318 immigrantsfrom the Palatinate. Wilhelm was 35 and apparently had some education ashis signature is in his own handwriting. He arrived from the province ofLichtenberg. He was born December 15, 1696 in Ichstedt (east Germany) anddied about 1749 at age 47. Wilhelm was the youngest son of Hans NicholasRabenalt, a tailor, and Maria Sophia Schuder. At least two sons came withhe and his wife – Johannes Peter and Johannes Frederick. There had beenanother son, Johann Nicholas (b. March 29, 1731; d. Feb. 15, 1732). Fromthe PA Archives, we learn Wilhelm took out a warrant in Long SwampTownship, Philadelphia County for 100 acres. It was surveyed September 6,1738, but the patent was not granted. The next record we have for Wilhelmis of his daughter, Anna Margaretha, who was baptized February 19, 1744at Jordon Lutheran Church in So. Whitehall. She was born 2/10/1744.Considering that was 7 years after their arrival, there may have been acouple of children before her. Her sponsors were: George Ernst & AdamTescheler and Apolonia Zimmer & Juliana Margaret Diehl. In 1749, thewidow, Magdalena, took out a warrant for a 50 acres of land in Lowhill,Northampton County. It was patented on November 17, 1753 by NicholasFisher, who on October 9, 1750 has (as a widower) married Maria MagdalenaRabenold on the same day her daughter, Maria Catherine married GeorgeJacob Fisher, the son of Nicholas. That same year, 1750, saw NicholasFisher and Magdalena Rabenold as sponsors to a Rieffel child. In 1754,they were sponsors to another Rieffel child. |
