Note
|
George Lavis felt it was his duty at the time of WW1 to do all he could to serve his country. Unfortunatley, he was an Australian citizen but too Young at the time to legally join the Army. He decided to lie about his age then board a ship to England and sign up for the British Army. George won a Military Cross for bravery - that was given to him by the King of England. Records and old photos reflect that he was a Sargent in the Royal Field Artillery corp #62477. During the war he was Gassed several times by the enemy so upon his death he donated his body to science so that they could better understand the terrible effects these weapons had on the human body. |
