"August Lindner was born on 16th June, 1830, and came from the same district as his wife, the place of origin being given as Buchwaldchen, Luben. He migrated to Australia with his family on the same boat as the Scholz family. Like his wife, he was cared for by a step-mother. His mother, whose name is unknown, died in Germany. His father was Johann Gottlob Lindner" "Family Tree of Johann Gottried Scholz and his wives Anna Rosina Walther and Johanne Christiane Mummert and their descendants 1805-1973", pge 107. |

"On 23rd October, 1851 she was Married to Johann Carl August Lindner, a renter of Langmeil. Witnesses of the Marriage were Hermann Scholz, Maria Grosser and Johanne Dittrich of Light Pass, Christian Auricht (student) of Langmeil, Wilhelm Otto (farmer) and Mrs Wilhelm Otto of Gnadenfrei"..... "The Young couple changed residence several times, as they worked hard to improve themselves. Church baptismal records give their address variously as Langmeil (to 1858); Marananga (to 1862) and Nuriootpa (1864). They then looked to nEwer pastures in New South Wales. After a short stay at Menindee, where one daughter was born (Christiane Bertha in June 1866) and one son was drowned (Karl Friedrich in November 1867) they folLowed her parents to the Albury district. They selected land at BurrumButtock and built a home where they spent the remaining years of their lives. On trips Back to South Australia he is said to have spoken highly of the land and conditions in New South Wales, trying to convince others to migrate. They took an active part in the life of the church. He was well equipped with the knowledge and interest to teach the confirmation class in the absence of the pastor. She died at Albury on 4th December, 1907 and is buried at Walla Walla. He died on 4th July, 1919 and is also buried at Walla." "Family Tree of Johann Gottried Scholz and his wives Anna Rosina Walther and Johanne Christiane Mummert and their descendants 1805-1973", pge 107. |
