"WILHELM GOTTLIEB Scholz was born at Light Pass on 2nd September, 1852, where he also received his schooling. He was confirmed in the Gruenberg Church, Moculta by Pastor G.J Rechner on 1st July,1886. He then worked for his father at the Willows Hospital, which included the treating of patients, but from the start his interests were in the farm. On 19th August, 1874 he Married Maria Elizabeth Pfeiffer at Light Pass with Pastor Rechner officiating. The Wedding text was psalm 84.12-13. The couple lived for several years at Stockwell, but then took up land in the Point Pass district. The greater part of the farm was malLee scrub, and was CLeared mostly by hand, but also with the help of a Grubbing machine, which was worked with a horse pulling the leverage handle to and fro. The land was then ploughed with a double farrow plough drawn by two horses. The seed grain was broadcast by hand and later harrowed in. In the Story that has Been handed down from those early years, the damage caused by kangaroos to the crops, was often referred to, so was the accurate shot of Wilhelm Gottlieb with his single barrel muzzle-loaded shot gun. With hard work Wilhelm Gottlieb prospered and later purchased additional land at Brownlow. This land was eventually taken over by two of his sons. The couple reared 12 children, 8 sons and 4 daughters. In 1920 the farm at Point Pass was sold for 4.10pound per acre. (It changed hands again in 1968 when it realised $75 per acre). Wilhelm Gottlieb then brought 400 acres of land at Anlaby, but a home and sheds and all facilities had to be built on it. In 1924 the couple celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary. On 26th June, 1926, Wilhelm Gottlieb was called out of this life. He was buried in the Julia cemetary. Six years later, on 28th October, 1932, his wife received her call and was buried alongside him in the Julia cemetary."
