GOTTLIEB Heinrich Scholz was born at Jindera, N.S.W. on 24th March 1870. His early career as a shearer was curtailed through rheumatic fever. However, a good recovery enabled him to Learn the trade of wheel Wright at Jindera, the first step toWards entering into partnership with E.D. Heppner in his BlackSmith business at Walla. After the turn of the century and the dissolving of the business partnership, he moved to Mundrawadra where he sharefarmed until selecting a 700 acre property on the Walbundrie Station. In 1908 this was swapped for one more suitableto the station-Holder on the outskirts of the station, called Spring Lagoon. After much hardwork and expense an infestation of rabbits was overcome and he was able to provide adequately for his large family. On 20th January, 1898 he had Married Emma Lydia Yensch, who predeacesed him on 15th February, 1921. The Young family was reared with the help of the older daughters. He retired in 1942 to live with a widowed daughter in Walla Walla. When she reMarried, he spent the remainder of his life with various daughters. He had a keen interest in horses and bred and sold freely. He also loved music. He passed to his eternal rest on 3rd June, 1949. The Marriage was blessed with 12 children, 4 sons and 8 daughters. |
