Note

Built in 1067, Winchester Castle was the seat of English Government, with Winchester as capital of England during the 10th and early 11th centuries. Only the Great Hall survives. King Arthur is said to have held court there and an imitation Arthurian Round Table hangs in the Great Hall. The table, originally constructed in the 13th century, was repainted for Henry VIII. Around the edge of the table are the names of King Arthur's knights.
