i Robert Newman of Newman & County, St. Lawrence, kept records of a
ll transactions with the store;
Newman's Journal 0 1787 - 8: Robert Bonnell of St. Lawrence wa
s dealing with the store.
December1806 - a bhill for 25 pounds was presented by Woolcott
March 1807 - the Woolcott bill to Rober (Bonnell) Jr. was settle
d for 10 pounds (accepted)
Jan 1811, a bill by Langdon to Robert Sr for 35 pounds.
ii Lamaline, 1869: Robert, a planter, registered a 23 ton vessel
1842: a Robert Bonnell signed his name withone "1" on a petitio
n at Lamaline. He was literate, likely an outsider of Newfoundl
and, and may have been the same Robert dealing with the store i
n 1787-8.
iii. In 1807 Rev Harris baptized a large number of people - 7
5 - including Robert born to Saul and Mary Bonnell. This Rober
t died in 1891. This Robert is likely to have been the one wh
o married Ann Hilliler born around 1814 and baptized 1816, daugh
ter of John and Deborah Hillier.

th a record of him in St. Lawrence, Newfoundland in 1787 I sho
w him with the following children

Eleanor born ca 1783
Saul(Solomon) born 1785
Richard born 1788
Benjamin born ca 1791
William born ca1794

Tentativeconclusion: Robert Bonnell 1756 shown in this record i
s ASSUMED to be RobertBonnell described in above notes. Ther
e exists no written documentation such as birth, marriage or dea
th certificates. Nor is there any documentation available to co
nfirm that children show here are his descendants. July 2001
