Cumberland County, Virginia 420-423 (1757) This Indenture made t
he twentyth Day of August in the year of our Lord God One Thousa
nd seven hundred fifty seven Between John Maxcey Senr and Sara
h his Wife of St. Anne Parish in the County of Albermarle and Si
lvanus Maxcey and Edward Maxcey (sons of the said JohnMaxcey Se
nr and) of the aforesaid Parish and County (and their wives Mar
yand Judith) and John Maxcey Junr (son of William Maxcey) of So
utham Parish inthe County of Cumberland of the other part Witne
sseth that the said John Maxcey Senr and Sarah his Wife Sampso
n Maxcey and Mary his Wife and Edward Maxcey and Judith his wif
e for and in Consideration of the sum of Thirty Pounds current m
oney of Virginia to them in hand paid by the said John Maxcey Ju
nr son of William Maxcey on or before the sealing and delivery o
f these records the Receipt whereof they hath hereby acknowledge
d and confirmed and each of them hath Granted bargained sold ali
ened released and confirmed and by these presents do and each o
f them doth Grant bargain sell alien release and confirmunto th
e said John Maxcey Junr and to his heirs and assigns forever al
l that Plantation tract or Parcel of Land whereon the said Joh
n Maxcey Senr formerly denoted containing Three hundred acres b
e the same more or less being partof a Tract of Land formerly g
ranted unto xxxxxxx Edward Maxcey as a Patent bearing date the t
wenty fourth Day of March 1725 lying and being on the southsid
e of James River on Matthew's Branch in the County of Cumberland
; and isbounded as followeth Beginning at the Back line a Corne
r Black Oak a CornerPine and a Hickory (on the North Branch o
f Jones Creek) thence to the Mouth of School House Branch to a C
orner Pop___ and Black Gum thence down the Main Branch to a Corn
er Black Gum the other remaining part of the said three hundre
d acres (being one hundred acres the sd John Maxcey Senr bough
t of his brother William Maxcey Beginning at a corner White Oa
k upon Matthew's Running South Course to a corner Pine of Hickor
y up from the Mouth of (Polonin's?) Branch to Peter Boccard's li
ne to a Ash along Baccard's line to a white oak thenceto a Corn
er White Oak and Maple to Boccard's line and Edward Maxcey dow
n the said Maxcey to the firth Station With all Houses Edifice
s Buildings YardsOrchards Woods Underwoods Water Courses Proffi
ts Commodities Hereditaments and Appurtenances whatsoever to th
e said Plantation Tract or Parcell of Land belonging or in any w
ise appertaining and all the Estate Right Title Property Claim o
f demand whatsoever of them the said John Maxcey Senr Sampson Ma
xceyand Edward Maxey and their Wives abovementioned or other o
f them of in and tothe same and all Deeds Evidences & Writing
s touching on or any wise concerning the said premises hereby gr
anted and Released. To have and to hold the said Land Premisse
s herein before mentioned or intended to be hereby Granted relea
sed and confirmed with their and every of their appurtenances un
to the said John Maxcey Junr his Heirs & Assigns to the only pro
per use and behoof ofhim the said John Maxcey Junr and of his H
eirs and assigns forever and the said John Maxcey Senr Sampso
n & Edward Maxcey and their said Wives Sarah Mary &Judith for t
hemselves their Heirs Executors and Administrators doth Covenan
t bargain and Grant to and with the said John Maxcey Junr his he
irs and assigns by their presents that the said John Sampson & E
dward Maxcey now at the time of the sealing and delivery of thes
