"Alexander Williamson her father (Ann Williamson) was a member f
rom Kent County in the ColonialLegislature of Maryland in the y
ears 1752, 1753, 1754, 1757 and 1758. He owned considerable rea
l estate in Eastern Neck in the lower part of Kent Countyand le
ft an unusually large and valuable personal estate. In its apra
isement is a large library, which from the titles of many of th
e volumes he acquired from his fther, Rev. Alexander Williamson
. His will is not dated but wasevidently executed some years p
rior to his death, for at the time of its execution noe of his c
hildren were adults. It was probabted August 11, 1760. He ha
d serbed as speaker of the lower house of assembly and the follo
wing notice of his death shows his character and standing in th
e county.

r Williamson, Esq., one of the representativesfor that county
, and once speaker of the lower house of assembly, a gentleman o
f a virtous and exemplary life, and who left a truly amiable cha
racter,no man in his county having then more general esteem. H
e had met with many and various trials and afflictions, by the d
eath of near and dear relatives, which he always bore with a Chr
istian resignation and manly fortitude, 'till aweek before hi
s death, his eldest son, Mr. Alexander Williamson, Junior, a ver
y hopeful and promising young gentleman, being cut off, afte
r a few Daysillness, it so much affected and depressed his spir
its, that in despite of all his wonted resolution, he died of gr
ief.""
