, Clearfield County, in the name of God. I SETH MAINES considerin
g all things being sick but of sound mind considering the uncert
ainty of this mortal life do makeand publish this to be my las
t will and testament in manner and from following that is toDay
; first, I give and bequeath unto Nehemiah Maines (my son tohim
s is crossed out) heirs, him and his to have the use of it as lo
ng as they live (the crossed out) and then to belong to the heir
s; 160 acres of landmore or less laying in Bradford township, a
djoining lands of Benjamin Knepp and James B Graham. the plac
e where the said Nehemiah now lives. I will 50 acres of land t
o be taken off the south side of my farm next to Daniel Maines
' farm, to my daughter Eliza Jane Maines, the said fifty acres t
o be taken of the whole length of my farm and the said Eliza Jan
e is to pay David Maines100 dollars before she can have the us
e of it the land now (indecipherable word) except the lot she no
w lives on.
I will that the remainder part of my farm belong to David Maine
s my son and all that is on the place or belongs to it and perso
nal property (four words unreadable). And the said David Maine
sis to pay all my debts and also cellect debts due.
I will that the said DavidMaines is to give Nancy Maines one th
ird of all he raised off the place as long as she lives to be i
n lieu of dower except she is to have the use of herhouse furni
ture and cow as long as she lives a widow.

The will was witnessed by Francis Pearce and John Graffius (Graf
fius signed by a mark). It is recorded in Will Book A at page
s 373-374. Recorded May 17 1859
Since Seth signed by mark, I assume he did not actually writedo
wn the will that is recorded but had someone do it for him.
