Bingham, Albern A., Bishop of Middleton Ward ( Ogden Stake ), We
ber county, Utah, and later Bishop of Riverside, Idaho, was bor
n April 14, 1876, at Huntsville, Weber county, Utah, the son o
f Erastus P. Bingham and Emmeline C. Allen. He was baptized Jun
e 5, 1884, by Peter C. Geertsen; ordained a Deacon March 16, 188
9, by George Langlois; ordained a Teacher March 25, 1895,by Dav
id McKay; ordained a Priest Oct. 8, 1898, By David McKay; ordain
ed aSeventy Nov. 7, 1900, by Heber J. Grant; filled a mission t
o the Eastern States in 1900-1902, and was ordained a High Pries
t and Bishop Sept. 10, 1905, byJoseph F. Smith and set apart t
o preside over the Middleton Ward. Early in life Bro. Bingham se
rved as first counselor in a Teachers' quorum, acted as secretar
y of an Elders' quorum and later as secretary of a Seventies quo
rum;also as an officer in the Ward Y. M. M. I. A. and SunDay sc
hool. He moved toRiverside, Idaho, in July, 1909, and acted a
s a member of the SunDay School Board of the Blackfoot Stake fro
m 1909 to 1912. He also served as superintendent of the Ward Sun
Day school and was set apart as first counselor to Bishop O. J
. Cobley on Aug. 18, 1912; he was chosen as first counselor to B
ishop Geo. H. Smith Nov. 10, 1915. In March, 1919. He was sustai
ned as Bishop of theRiverside Ward and was set apart to that po
sition May 18, 1919, by Apostle Joseph F. Smith junior. In 190
4 (Jan. 27th) Bishop Bingham married Petra J. Poulsen (daughte
r of Andrew P. Poulsen and Sine Benson), who was born Dec. 26, 1
877, in Plain City, Weber county, Utah. The issue of this marria
ge was three children, namely, Wintie A. and Eva and Neva (twins
). Bishop Bingham is a farmer by avocation.
