Note

After Squire and his wife Sarah Morgan were married, they settle
d in Bucks County, PA. They later moved to Philadelphia Co.P.A. wh
at is now called Berks County, Pa. In 1730 they settled on a far
m in Oley Township, Philadelphia Co.,Pa.(Now Exter,Pa) The far
m was near Squire's fther. It was only a few miles from presen
t Day Reading PA. Squire and Sarah were Quakers of good standin
guntil the marriage of their daughter, Sarah, to Joh, Wilcox
. Squire was an "Overseer" and trustee of the burial ground fo
r the Friends Society. John wasnot a member of the Friends Soc
iety, and Squire was reprimanded for allowinghis daughter to ma
rry a non member. things were made worse when Squire's son, Isr
ael also "married out" and was "testified against". Squire's wi
fe apparently stayed in good standing with the Meeting, but th
e Friends continuedto make things difficult for him. The Boone
's apparently did not reunite with the Quakers after moving in 1
750, and many of the children later became Baptist. On 11 Apr 1
750, Squire and Sarah conveyed their 158 acre farm in Exeter t
o William Maugridge and started out for North Carolina. They di
d not buy land in NC until Dec 1753, and it is likely that the
y stopped in Virginia for 2 years.
In 1759, due to Indian Outbreaks, and the "French stirring up tr
ouble", the Boone's moved again to Georgetown, District of Colum
bia. In 1762, the Boone's returned to the Yadkin Valley, NC. S
quire and Sarah remained there until their deaths. They are bur
ied in Jopa Cemetery in Mocksville, Davie Co.,N.C.
