John Wood of Ovenden, the second son, made his will Nov 4, 1652
. To his brother Joseph Wood, he left a house on Illingworth Mo
or called Maude House and four closes of land for life, with rem
ainder to his brother, William Wood, andthen to the latter's th
ree daughters for ever. To his brother William Woodhe left 5 p
ouns and 45 pounds each to William's three daughters, Phoebe, Wo
od, Judith the wife of John Brigg, and Grace, the wife of Timoth
y Mitchell.To his nephew, Joseph Watkinson, he left a house ly
ing off Ovenden Moorside,and a close of land in Shaw-lan; als
o to the said Joseph Watkinson, to be heirlooms in the house
, a table and form in the south parlour, and one iron range; th
e iron range in the housebody, a great ark in the housebody, a b
edstead in the back parlour, a great ark in the chamber, and a t
able in the butter;also a pair of looms with two presses, papte
r, etc.
