Samuel and Francine were married in a township called Chancefor
d in southeastYork Co. Pa Francine was 18 and it was two year
s after her father died. Sometime afther they were married, the
y moved into Virginia. they appeared tohave followed the Wilde
rness Road which ran from York, PA through Gettysburgh, down thr
ough what is now I-81 and down into Western Virginia. Two year
slater, their first son, Henry, was born. By 1766 they had the
ir 4th child inTazewell Couny. By 1773, they had settled int
o Thompsons' Valley. Tragedystruck in 1775 when Francina was k
illed during an Indian raid. she was 33 years old, had nine chi
ldren, the youngest being one. Henry was thirteen at the time
. he would not soon forget who caused the death of his mother
. Henry became a fierce Indian fighter whom the Indians named "
Big Creek"

d State of Kentucky considering the uncertainty of this Mortall
ife and being of sound and perfect mind and memory, Blessed be t
he Almightily God for the same, do make and publish this my las
t Will and Testament inmanner and form following. This is to s
ay. First: I give and bequest untomy eldest son, Henry Marrs
, one Dollar in addition to what he has received ofme heretofor
e.
I also give and bequeath unto my daughter Phillis Wynne, formall
y Phuliss Marrs one hundred Dollars. I also give and bequeath u
nto Elizabeth Owen, formally Elizabeth Marrs one dollar.
It is further my will that forty dollars of my estate be deposit
ed in the hands of my son, James Marrs tobe paid to my daughte
r Elizabeth Owens at any time when said James thinks her need re
quires, if said sum or no part thereof be paid to her by me, Jam
esMarrs, after the date of these present but in case my daughte
r Elizabeth Owens should before the above sum of forthy dollar
s in so much thereof is not paid to her, be paid to her childre
n share and share alike.
I also give and bequeath unto my son Christopher Marrs, one doll
ar in addition to what he has received of me theretofore.
I also give and bequeath unto the Children of RuthAlderson, For
mally Ruth Marrs, forthy dollars to be divided share and share a
like.
I also give and bequeath unto my son, Samuel Marrs, one dollar i
n addition to what he has received of me heretofore.
I also give and bequeath untomy son Silliam Marrs thirty-four d
ollars in addition to what he has receivedof me heretofore.
