Born near Lexington, Ky and cameto Pike County MO with his pare
nts in 1832. Some years later his father moved to Howard Count
y Mo near Fayette, and settled there permanently. iIn 1841, h
e married Elizabeth Geary. In 1852, he moved to Johnson Count
y Mo, andsettled there on a farm three miles NorthWest of Kno
b Noster, lived there continously until October 1892. He move
d to 426 Grover Street, Warrensburg, March 21, 1896. His wife d
ied at the commencement of the Civil War, he enlistedas a priva
te in Co C 27th Mo Vol., and was taken prisoner at the battle o
fLexington, Mo, after being exchanged as a prisoner he was comm
issioned a first Lieutenant of the 5th Mo. Provisiona Regiment
, and soon after was commissioned Captain. He was in the sevic
e from 1861 to 1865 and saw a great deal ofhard service.
