Note	James Bailey was born December 15, 1825 in Estern Tennessee, an d died August19 1892 at his home in Center,Mississippi, near Ko sciusko, Attala County, Mississippi. He is buried in the Cente r community cemetery, and his grave is marked with a large tombs tone which my mother placed there at the same time that she ha d markers set up at the graves of my father and my grandmother B ailey's in the cemetery at Devine, Texas. The tombstones of m y grandparents areidentical, having been made by the same stone -mason. Mary Ann Bailey, nee Mary Ann Curtis, was born in the State of A labama on December 14, 1825 and died April 9, 1908 at Devine, Me dina County, Texas and is buried in the Bailey family burial lo t in the Evergreen Cemetery there. James Bailey was a Civil War veteran, and in 1864 he was give n a furlow to return home to attend the funeral of his daughter , Hariett, and because of his illness of diarrhea, caused by th e food he had eaten, his eldest son, Tom, volunteered for milita ry service, and was accepted to serve instead of his father, Jam es Bailey.
