Dayton Reed North was born in Salt Lake County,Utah, and reside d there with his parents until adultHood. After traveling som e he settled in the Long Beach, Los Angelese harbor area, Califo rnia, where he worked in the waterfront industry for many years . He retired in 1962.His health was not good. In 1926 he married Edith Diedrichsen. They had one daughter, Ed ith Jean, born February 8, 1930. They were later divorced. He married Myrtle L. Smith, and his daughter, Edith Jean, was ad opted by Myrtle. In 1940 Reed and Myrtle began investing in Southern California r eal estate, firs an apartment house then another, then a mobil e home Park, all of which proved interesting and profitable. Myrtle, his wife assisted in the real estatemanagement. They b elong to a group of travelers and do considerable traveling most ly by groups of trailers. They have six grandchildren, five o f whomare living.
