Ella Izetta North Bennion, born 6 December, 1894, at Mill Creek
, Salt Lake County, Utah. Attended elementary school at North S
chool, Bingham, and Roosevelt. Continued education at GraniteH
igh, graduating in 1915, and the University of Utah, with a B.S
. degree in 1923. She taught in elementary at Blaine, Granite S
chool District for three years. Returned to University of Uta
h for B.S. degree. Taught physical education at LDS High Schoo
l and college from 1920 to 1931. Returned to schoolat Universi
ty of Wisconsin, then to University of Michigan, where she achie
ved a Master of Science degree in Public Health and Hygiene in 1
932. Also attended several summer school sessions during some 4
0 years teaching. Supervised playground in Los Angeles for 2 ye
ars, which included the solid black community. Then returned t
o teaching at Granite High until retirement. Has been privilege
d to touch the lives of some 30,000 students, with much satisfac
tion and enjoyment. Has traveled extensively, visiting Mexico
, Guatemala, Canada, 18 European countries: the Holy Land, Egypt
, and a fast world tour byjet this last year in 1970. Served a
s an ordinance worker in the Salt Lake Temple for 16 1/2 years
, as a stake missionary 2 years, and a short missionaryassignme
nt in Hawaii and the North Western States. Also served as war
d SunDay School Secretary 13 years, and worked on three stake MI
A borads. She enjoys reading, sewing, quilting, hiKing, camping
, sports, traveling, and bestof all, she likes people.
