My Father Francis Futheringham and Janet Walkerwas never Marred
. Grandfather John Walker would not let them bacaus Motherwa
s young and Father was a good dale older and bacause he was Engl
ish.
Sowhe I wa Born on the 11 of November 1827 I was roled in a Bla
nked and givingto a Old Womin to take to my Father he was livin
g with his parents at Clyde Iron Works and Mother was liven in T
ool cross about 1 Mile and a half a part.
So when the Old Womin went with the Child he did not know what t
o do with the Child. Thare was too young folks living next nabo
ur that had moved over from Ruherglen and Father wanted the Womi
ng to take care of the Child of a Dayor to. So after a fue Day
s for the sake of the pay she Waned hir own child it was nhine m
onts old. There Names was Robert and Agnes Burnes. thay had n
o other child but the wone hir Name was Janet she was living i
n 18980.
In ashort time thay moved back to Ruherglen but before thay mov
ed Father got meBabtised in Tool cross and recorded there. Joa
nn Walker Futhringham. In Jul1829 Mother hade another Child t
o Francy Futhringham. Grandmother Walker rased hir till she wa
s Marred to Hugh Patterson when she was about 18 years old. S
o when Mother did not gate the Man she wanted she got rackless a

h Man the name of John Bolling he was a Roman Catchlic and tha
y did not agre and he abised hir butshe said that she would sta

So when she was Marred about 10 yers he died and left hir wit
h 5 Childrenand she hade to Work hard to rase them til thay wer
e able to Work.
Hard Work is nothing to bad treatment hir Children's Names Willi
am, Bell, Lezzay,Agness and John Bolling. So a while after Robe
rt Burns moved back to Ruherglen.Agness Burns hade another Chi
ld so she three little children so hir Mother Agness McIntich sa
id she would take little Futhry, that is what she called hirs
o I was Grany's wane as long as she lived. thare ware Grandfath
er and hir and too Daughters liveng to gather thare Names was Ja
me and Hellin. I didnot know but Agness Burns was my Mother an
d the others was Granfather and Grandmother and that the Girls w

When I was about 6 yers Old I hade the Mazels and some of them w
ent int o my eyes and I lost the site of wone of them. So I wa
s blind of one eye all the Day of my life.
When I was about 10 yrs oldmy Grandmother died and she was sorr
ow to leve me she wanted her Son John McIntoch to take care of m
e and he promised his Mother to do so but he back that after
So I went to live with Ouncal John his Wife was sickly some tim
s shecould not gate out of Bead in the Morning and I hade to d
o all the Work thare was three Childrn too boys and a girl afte
r a whil the Girl died. I livedwith them for about three years
, then she died. Ounval John pomised to hir to take care of m
e as if I was hi one he brak that promis to.
Then I hade togo to live with grandfather McIntoch thare was wo
ne Day when I was about 11 years old. I was with some Girls an
d wone of them told me that Agness Burns was not my Mother. I f
elt verry bad about it thay said never to mind it thaythay woul
d be good to me any way. So the Girl told me if I had a mind sh
ewould take me to see my Father next SunDay. So thay fixed m
e up to go with the girl to Tool cross it was about 2 Milds fro
m Ruherglen. I was that near to my folk and did not know it.
