Note

From Rev. Amos S. Chesebrough's notes:
"On June 24, 1764, he owned the covenant and had his two childre
n baptized. He was a farmer, and on the first callfor troops i
n April, 1775, to resist the British aggressions he enlisted i
nThird Company, Sixth Regiment, under Col. Samuel H. Parson, Co
nnecticut troops, as a private, was discharged December 10, 1775
, enlisted again in DurkeesRegiment; was taken prisoner Novembe
r 16, 1776, on the surrender of Fort Washington, New York Island
, with 2818 other soldiers, under ......Magan. Afterhis retur
n home he enlisted a third time in the Fifth Company of the Four
th Battalion of State troops: was made Ensign and surved under G
en. Spencer inRhode Island. He continued in the Army until nea
r the close of the war."
"In the settlement of his estate his heirs, through the mismanag
ement and badadvise of the administrator, Amos Dennison, Esq.
, became involved in a long and expensive lawsuit, which so wast
ed the fine estate that nothing remained to the family but the w
idows dower. His younges son, Charles Grandison, nevermarried
, but cultivated what was left of the old homestead, living wit
h his mother, who died at the age of 87, and his sisters Keurah
, Prudence and Mary..
