743, Inventory taken 25 mar 1748, probated 28 mar 1748
Nicholas lived in Portsmouth, West Greenwich and N. Kingston, R.
I. He was a weaver by occupation.
On 13 Mar 1683 he had a legacy of a loom from Orpheus Pomeroy o
f Portsmouth.
On 21 Jan 1697 he bought land in East Greenwich from David Shipp
ee for 6 pounds.
On Nov29 1703 he sold a house and 30 acres of land in East Gree
nwich to William Underwood for 15 pounds. (Witnessed by John an
d Elizabeth Pearse and John Heath. Vol 3 p 96)

es) in the vacant lands in Narragansett, apportioned by the 13 o
riginal proprietors as per Act of the R.I. Assembly (Narraganset
t Hist Reg. Vol 3 p 3) This land consisting of 30000 acres, comp
rised the present town of West Greenwich.
On 14 Aug 1721 he and his wife Mary mortgaged 25 1/2 acres an

Walter Coates shows a son Daniel with no dates. If this is Nich
olas' son then he probably died earlysince he is not mentione
d in Nicholas' will. Ann McComb says d Oct 1747. Shirley Barne
s says that Mary Casey is not his wife as the dates for her birt
h show. Wife is probably Mary Carr.
Edwin C. Whitford agrees that Mary Carr is probably the correc
t wife. Here is some of his thinking: Robert Whitford, son of N
icholas could have been named after his great grandfather Rober
t Carr. Robert Whitford and Margaret Fones names a son Caleb po
ssibly after Roberts grandfather Caleb Carr. They also had a so
n William which could have been named for Robert's uncle Willia
m Carr (brother ofhis mother.) Mary Carr'sbrother was named Jo
b and Nicholas' son Pasco named a son Job.
