s betrothed there on 7 May 1613. She moved back to England afte

radford. she sailed to the Colonies aboard the "Anne"in 1623 w
ith her young son. Shortly after arriving she married William.

Alice came to Plymouth in 1623 and married (2) 14 aug 1623 in Pl
ymouth to Gov. William Bradford. The sons, Constant and Thomas

In 1637 both her sons were married. Alice was born in Wirington
, nearBath, Somerset, Eng. Her father Alexander moved his fail
y to Holland becauseof religious persecution in England 1600
. Alice was born in Holland (from Family News 1988 pg 5) Willia
m of Cobham was without a doubt the son of Alexander. Edward S
outhworth was her 1st husabdn and her 2nd was Gov William Bradfo
rd. It was a well known fact her father opposed this marriage b
ecause ofBradfords inferiority in social standing and she was i
nduced to marry a Southworth. Alexander Carpenter was a man o
f great wealth. Gov Bradford was already in the Colonies and up
on hearing of Edwards death sent word pleading forAlice to joi
n him. The Carpenters lived in Amsterdam Holland then in 1609 i
n Leyden Holland they were members of the Ancient Brethren.
