Richard Bonnell and Elinor Goddard family. The family did not s
tay long at Petites. Only one child, George was born there. Th
e majority of the children were born in Lewins Cove and Spoon Co
ve, later called Epworth. Richard also died in Spoon Cove on Ju
n 26 1880. Elinor 1827-1911 diedin Lewins Cove.
Excerpts from Joan (Hollett) King's e-mail Sep 30 s00
As faras I can determine Richard and Eleanor Bonnell built th
e first permanent house in Lewins Cove. There were lots of wint
er huts here. But Richard and Eleanor lived here from 1852 to 1
856/7. By 1858 they were living Epworth, thenin 1861 they wer
e in Petites for a year or so when George Ladner was born. Bu
t were back living in Epworth when his son Saul was drowned in 1
863.
