"The last will and Testament of William Bassett Sen (as dictate
d by him on his death bed) exhibited to the court, holding at PL
YMOUTH the 1st Day of June, AnnoDom. 1667, on the oath of Willi
am Brett and john Carey.
The third of the second mon th Anno Do. 1667, the last will an
d Testament of William Bassett, Sen. being very weak and sick, a
nd having spoken to his wife, and said, "Wife, Imust leave thee
, but I shall leave thee with the Lord. If God had lengthened o
ut my life it might have been that thou mightest have been mor
e comfortably provided for.' Bit it being demanded of him by on
e who was acquainted with his mind about the disposition of hi
s estate, whether his mind was a formerly: That he would give hi
s movable goods with his chattels to his wofe, answered, yes, i
t was his mind: and that she should have his house and grounds t
ill she died: If she married not, and then he would give it t
o his sone William, and his tools to his son Joseph: and it bein
g demanded about his books which he formerly took care about, an
swered he could not now do it.
To satisfy as soon as we may. Present then with him we have se
t our hands as witnesses to the above writing so far as we know
