Will proved in the Exchequer Court of York 28 Sep 1804.
I Joseph Kaye of RipPonden Bank in Barkisland in the county of Y
ork,... tomy wife Hannah...to my son William Kaye all my real a
nd personal estate situate in RipPonden Bank aforesaid, he to pa
y 10 pounds each to my three daughters, Mary wife of John Blazb
y of Leeds, Orpha wife of John King Junr. of Midgley & Hannah Ma
riah wife of John Ward of the township of Barkisland aforesaid
, also 75 pounds which is to come, left by my brother John to m
y son John Kaye now deceased, to be equally divided amongst my s
aid three daughters....I appoint my son William Kaye & aforement
ioned John Kay my joint executors....dated 11 jne 1802.

The following interesting letter addressed to Mr. W. Kay ripPond
en Bank, Barkisland, Halifax, was preserved amongst the papers o
f Orpah King. Cambridge March 5th 1823. Sir, You will be concern
ed to hear that your Uncle Mr.Abrahm Kaye is no more; he died a
bout a fortnight ago after a week's illness. In his will he ha
s directed that his wearing apparel and a watch which hehad des
cribed shoule be sent to you. I shall, therefore, send a Trun
k thisDay directed to you to be left at Ridsdales' Warehouse, H
uddersfield to be called for. The watch is packed up among th
e linen. You will find no shoes for my father left none which we
re worth the carriage. I will thank you to inform me of the arr
ival of the Trunk when you have received it. The Trunk is cover
ed with a sheet and the Key is tied to the handle, I am, sir you
r obedient servant. J. Bristol. It is thought that the reaso
n why he left no shesworth sending was because he was deforme
d in one foot.
I certify that...on 15 sep 1804 William Kaye of Barkisland, in t
he parish of Halifax, Cotton Manufacturer the son and one of th
e executors named in the last will and testamentof Joseph Kay
e late of Barkisland aforesaid, Yeoman, deceased......under 20p
ounds.
