In Tryon County there were only three land grants to Fosters, Ambrose,James and John. Ambrose and James are on the same page and John is onthe preceeding page. Perhaps this is a clue to the identity ofAmbroses's family, Ambrose sold his property to Andrew Falls, First deed10 dec 1783 and second deed 10 Nov 1786.

In a letter from O. G. Foster, Inglewood, Ca. to his sister Pat, 30 May2940, he refers to Joel Lewis Foster as "second in America." If this istrue Ambrose Foster is the Imigrant.

By tradition Ambrose and wife had 10 sons and one daughter.
Ambrose Foster only had 2 females in 1790 cencus and they were under 16,so Rebecca must haave died before 1790.
