Note
|
I was only a young lad but recall the news that my uncle George had been injured and was seriously ill in hospital and remember that he survived for a short time there but died. I knew that George worked for a motorcycle dealership, (I remember seeing pictures of him with TT champion Geoff Duke who I think was sponsored by George's company which I seem to remember being told was Kings Motors in Old Trafford), and I was told that he was picking up a new motorcycle for the showroom and although he was an early advocate for safety helmets, which were not legal at the time, for some reason he was not wearing his helmet and was struck by a recently qualified driver of a car that did not see him and came out of a tee junction hitting him side on and throwing him off the bike causing a head injury. |
