Richard S. "Dick" Crewdson, 82, Sarasota since 1976, formerly of Nitro, W.Va., died Sept. 1, 2008.
Services will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Margaret of Scotland Episcopal Church in Sarasota. Wiegand Brothers Funeral Home in Sarasota handled arrangements.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Freda; sons Rick and Jeff, both of Sarasota; daughters Sandi Doyle of Baltimore, Tami Zonies of Terra Ceia Island and Rebecca Lane of Tampa; a sister, Anna Mary Elskus of Chamberlain, Maine;
six grandchildren, Melanie Nystrom, Landon Powers, Katie and Kyle Crewdson, and Malia and Reece Lane; and great-grandchildren Thor and Gavin Nystrom.
Dick served two years in the Navy, 1944 and 1945. He retired as production manager from Payne Engineering Company in Scott Depot, W.Va., in 1976 and moved to Sarasota, Fla., following his love of organic citrus and vegetable gardening from childhood until his passing.
