Fredric Locke Mill, 94, passed away on February 9, 2015. He was born December 2, 1920 in Douglas, Wyoming to Mary Elizabeth Locke and Otto Fredric Mill. He and his younger sister Mary spent their childhood in the booming Salt Creek Oil Field near Midwest, Wyoming. As a young man, he worked alongside his father on the family ranch by French Creek in the Black Hills of South Dakota. Fred attended Colorado University in Boulder and later Colorado A&M in Fort Collins. He joined the Army Reserves, a decision that paved the way for a 30 year career in the United States Army. He served in both WWII and Korea. During WWII he was a member of the 82nd Airborne Division 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment. Fred was also an outstanding decorated marksman. His military experience took him around the globe and he eventually landed in El Paso, Texas. After retiring from the military, Fred became the Toxicologist at Providence Memorial Hospital from 1966 - 1982. Fred never met a stranger and was a friend to all. An amazing father and husband, he was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Patricia Spires Mill. Always on the go, Fred was active up until a few days before his death. His incredible journey on this earth has ended, but Fred has not stopped because it was his true nature to go on. He has found the light of sun and stars and God and is on a new path. His life lessons live on in those he has left behind. He is survived by his six children, eleven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. With love in our hearts, we will continue on our own journeys until the day our paths cross with his once again. Cuidado dear man! Graveside services will be held at Fort Bliss National Cemetery on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Archer House at 624 Espina Dulce, El Paso, TX 79912. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-West.
