Note	INQUEST - Stamford Mercury 20th October 1905. An inquest was held at the Municipal-buildings on Monday, before Dr. A. Tuxford, district coroner, concerning the death of Joseph Thomas Chambers, aged 65, of Sleaford-road, who was found drowned in a cistern in the yard at the back of his house on Sunday night. Deceased who was chief clerk and cashier for Mr. T. Ridlington, wine and spirit merchant and Norwegian Vice-Consul, and in whose employ he had been for 45 years, had been in ill-health for some time. On Sunday evening his family went to chapel, leaving him alone at home. When they returned he was missing and was found deceased in the cistern in the yard. Deceased was well known and generally respected. He was one of the most prominent and active members of the Manchester Unity of Oddfellows in the district, and was secretary for the Boston district, for the Widows and Orphans' fund, and held other important appointments. He was also a local preacher in connection with the Primitive Methodist connexion, and was for sometime one of the trustees of the Boston chapel.
