Note

George Bells Atkinson was a Railwayman before WW1 and worked in the area of Settle (Midland Railway, S & C). During the Great War he served in RAMC (like many Railwaymen due to first aid training routinely given) in India. I have yet to find his records and only have family stories about him turning up in shorts and his younger brother (Frederick Morton Atkinson) being fairly disgusted and claiming that George still thought he was in India. |
