LaNora Katherine (Dobbin) Holliday Funeral Services for LaNora Holliday, age 104, of Orchard, NE, will be at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, October 21, 2017, at the United Methodist Church in Orchard, with burial in the Orchard Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, October 20, 2017, from 5-7 P.M at the United Methodist Church in Orchard. LaNora passed away peacefully on October 17, 2017, at Avera St. Anthony’s Hospital in O’Neill. Arrangements are under the direction of Biglin’s Mortuary in O’Neill. Memorials may be made to the family for future designation. LaNora Katherine Dobbin was born on a farm near Osmond, NE, on December 18, 1912 to Clarence J and Sofia (Brunckhorst) Dobbin. She was of German and Irish descent. At age 5, she and her family moved to a farm near Pierce, NE, and then two years later, moved again to a farm northeast of Page, NE. LaNora attended the Cream Ridge (District 39) grade school and then graduated from Page high school with the class of 1931. La Nora was united in marriage to Thomas Millard Holliday on December 14, 1935 at the Methodist Parsonage in Wayne, NE. Two children were born to this union, Holly and Beverly. Thomas and LaNora farmed and raised livestock for 40 years on a farm 4 miles west and 3 miles north of Orchard. Upon retiring from farming, the couple built a home in Orchard and moved into it in 1975. LaNora had many hobbies. She liked to garden and was a lover of all nature. She considered the beauty of the Earth as God’s artwork. She was an active member of the Orchard United Methodist Church. Those grateful for sharing LaNora’s life are her son Holly and wife Gretchen of Orchard, NE, her daughter Beverly of Albuquerque, NM, her grandson, Eric and wife Teresa, great granddaughter, Erica and great grandson, Thomas of Blue Grass, IA. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Thomas in 1980, and infant brother, Cecil Kermit Dobbin. |
