Funeral services for Virginia Benjamin, age 80 of Neligh, Nebraska will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 15, 2013, at Brockhaus Funeral Home in Creighton. Reverend Wayne Smith will officiate, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery at Creighton.

Visitation will be Monday, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Bockhaus Funeral Home in Creighton.

Virginia died Friday, October 11, 2013, at Antelope Memorial Hospital in Neligh.

Virginia Benjamin, daughter of Melvin and Mabel (Oppen) Cross, was born July 18, 1933, at Creighton, Nebraska. Virginia attended and graduated from Creighton High School with the class of 1951. On May 29, 1951, she was married to Robert Hergert at New Baltimore, Michigan, near where Robert was serving in the Air Force at Selfridge Field, Mt. Clemens, Michigan. To this union, one child was born.

Virginia lived in the Creighton and Royal, Nebraska area most of her life. While living in Royal, she owned and operated Bob's Cafe for many years. After the sale of the cafe, Virginia worked at Vishay Electronics in Norfolk, Nebraska, until her retirement.

Virginia is survived by her son, Myron "Butch" (wife Terri) Hergert of Royal, Nebraska; three granddaughters, Toni, Jodi, and Milli; and ten great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Donald Cross
