Christopher Fraser Beattie (1941-1977) was a professor of sociology at the
Atkinson College of York University. He obtained a B.A. with honours in sociology
from Carleton University in 1963, an M.A. in Sociology from the University of
Toronto in 1964, and a Ph.D in sociology from the University of California
(Berkeley) in 1970. His doctoral thesis was "Minority in a Majority Setting:
Middle-Level Francophones at Mid-Career in the Anglophone Public Service of
Canada". His areas of specialization were the Canadian society, ethnic relations,
sociological theory and research design.

Scope and Content:
