Note
|
Garfield was probably born towards the end of 1881 but not baptised until 18 January 1882 in St. Paul's Church. He was a plumber by trade and eventually left Darlington to live on the North Yorkshire coast. In 1907 he married Edith Mary Stackles in Whitby. She was born in Sandsend in 1884. When the 1911 census was taken, Garfield was back in Darlington and at 77 Brighton Road. Edith, who was probably not a well woman, was with her sister Margaret Hannah in Sandsend. Edith died in 1913 aged 29. Garfield married his second wife, Rose Mary Cooper, in 1917 at Whitby, which is where she originated from. They moved to Scarborough and a daughter was born there in 1921. Garfield died at 'Omega' 2 High Street, Eastfield, Scarborough on 20 February 1958 aged 77. Probate of his Will was granted to Rose and his estate amounted to £1,312 13s. 1d. Rose died in Scarborough in 1982 aged 93 |
