Patrick Murdock Tuesday, June 1, 2010 3:14 PM MDT He was born March 17, 1940, in Bell, Calif., to Wilford Riggs and Mildred Barton Murdock. He married Judy May Johnson, in Elsinore, July 16, 1957. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS temple March 9, 1965. Pat was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held various church callings. After marrying Judy, they moved to Cedar City where he attended Southern Utah State College for a year. From there they moved to Las Vegas where Pat worked for about a year before moving back home. For the next five years, Pat was employed at the U.S. Gypsum Plant in Sigurd. In 1964, Pat started his farming career and took over the family farm and dairy. He loved farming and was not afraid of the hard work it involved. He took a lot of pride in his farm and was well-known for his knowledge and expertise. Pat served on the South Bend Canal Board and was water master for several years. Pat was a proud member of the Monroe Fire Department for 41 years. He dearly loved being a member of the department. He was well-known for his ability to operate the trucks. His favorite part of the department was the many lasting friendships that he built. Pat loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter. He especially loved Monroe Mountain where he and Judy built a cabin. During the many years living in Monroe, Pat enjoyed going to the coffee shop every day and visiting with his friends. Pat was a wonderful husband and father. He loved and was very proud of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife, Judy; children, John (Jodie) Murdock, all Monroe; Patti (Doug) Hansen, Cedar City; Michael (Melina) Murdock, Monroe; grandson, Mathew (Jade) Murdock, Richfield; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Nancy Larsen, Washington City; and Marilyn (Larry) Utley, Henderson, Nev. He was preceded in death by his son and daughter-in-law, Scott (Virginia Wood) Murdock; and his parents. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 4, at 11 a.m. in the Monroe LDS stake center. Friends may call at the Magleby Mortuary Thursday, June 3, from 6 to 8 p.m., and at the stake center in Monroe Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Monroe City Cemetery. |
