PROVO - Verna Mae Baldwin Taylor, age 87, died April 9, 2005, in Provo, Utah.

She was born April 27, 1917, in Gravelbourg, Saskatchewan, Canada, to Bert Raymond and Diantha Emma Closs Forry. She married Charles Gene Baldwin on November 15, 1942, in Reno, Nevada. He died July 17, 1986, and was buried in Beaver, Utah. She then married Bacle Don Taylor on February 9, 1990. From the age of six, Verna was raised in Petaluma, California.

After high school, she got a job with the Nulaid Poultry Assoc., casing eggs to save money for beauty college. She went to beauty college in San Francisco at the age of 18. When the money ran out, she worked for a family for room and
board while continuing her college training.

She loved good music and dancing. She went to many dances in the big hotels where the big bands were always playing. While attending these dances, she met Gene Baldwin. After a short courtship they were married. They lived in San Francisco, where she continued to work and Gene worked in the shipyards during the war.

On July 15, 1944, their first child was born, Gary Eugene Baldwin. On September 27, 1947, their second child was born, Wayne Ross Baldwin. Their third child was born July 17, 1953, Gaylene Patricia Baldwin. At this time they were living in Petaluma, California. While in Petaluma, she was a social reporter for the local newspaper.

In 1972, they retired and moved to St. George, Utah. They enjoyed bowling and golf. Gene worked selling cars and she worked in a gift shop. After five years they moved to Lakeport, California to be closer to their children, but soon they desired to be back in a drier climate so they moved back to St. George.

She worked with Gene in the St. George LDS Temple until Gene's health started to fail. She continued to work in the temple for some time after. Gene died soon after that.

She married Bacle Don Taylor in 1990. They were friends in their ward before their spouses died. After they were married they were called to serve in the Australia Perth Mission. After they were home for about a year they were called to serve in Albania.

They worked as ordinance workers in the St. George LDS Temple. They attended 57 temples together.

She is survived by her husband Don, her children; Gary E. Baldwin, Wayne Ross Baldwin, and Gaylene Patricia Montgomery, 7 grandchildren.
