Lois Kay Morgan, age 70 of Jasper, Texas passed away Sunday, June 18, 2017. She was born to Leo Freeman Cook and Estella Marie Hamilton on July 13, 1946 in Magrath, Alberta. Kay was a loyal, loving person. With Kay, it was always doing for others that made her happy. She was devoted to the care of those around her, especially her family. Everything she did was a benefit for someone. Kay was so outgoing and kind and she never met a stranger. On July 28, 1974 she married the man who would be her best friend for the rest of her life, James Morgan. James was working in the oilfields of Alberta when he met Kay. James could have owned half of Texas or just a humble homestead, she wanted to build a life with him. After their wedding they moved to Jasper, where they had three children. These children were another way for Kay to give of herself. A wonderful writer, she wrote all the time. Starting with a children’s books at a young age and even wrote a journal of her life and family memories for several years. She started many novels and stories over the years and amazed everyone with her tremendous vocabulary. An absolute favorite past time of hers was hunting arrowheads. Over countless hours and years, she collected thousands. So many that people came to buy them from her from miles around. Aunt Kay, as she was affectionately known until she became “Nana” with the arrival of her grandbabies, brought joy into the hearts of all that knew her, and she will be dearly missed. Left to honor her memory is her loving husband of 42 years, James Earl Morgan, her daughter, Kimberly Morgan of Jasper, Texas, her sons, Kristopher Morgan and wife Kaya of Houston, Teas and Scott Morgan and wife Nicole of Rockwall, Texas and Derrick Hansen of Edmonton, AB; brother, Jack Cook and wife, Joann; and grandchildren, Taylor Morgan, Ryan Herrin, Ian Morgan, Hayden Morgan, Truman Scoggins, Hudson Morgan and Harper Morgan. Preceding Kay in death are her parents and her other siblings. Kay’s life honoring memorial service will be on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 11am at her home at 965 CR 350 Jasper, Texas 75951 with her loving family officiating. |
