Susan Holmes
CHUBBUCK- Susan Rae Hacking Holmes, 55, beloved wife, mother and grandmother returned to her Heavenly Father peacefully at her home on Thursday August 30, 2007 after a long battle with Cancer.

Born May 3, 1952 in Pocatello, Idaho at the old St. Anthony Hospital. Susan was the fifth of six children and the first and only daughter of Vernile Jacobs Hacking and Pauline Tillotson. Surrounded by four living brothers she was full of laughter and fun.

After her father received his degree from Idaho State College the family moved to Soda Springs where many fun and memorable years were spent. The family then moved to Rigby for a short time and Estancia, New Mexico and finally settled in Rupert where Susan graduated from Minico High school in 1970. Rupert was always considered her “hometown”.

Susan married her sweetheart, Clifford D. Holmes, in the Idaho Falls Temple March 22, 1974. They spent 33 wonderful years together raising their five children. Susan loved being a mother, homemaker and entrepreneur.

For the last ten years she and her husband ran a business called The Blind Connection. She was lovingly known as “the blind lady”. She was well known throughout the community because of her warmth, kindness and ability to talk to almost anyone.

She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She has served in many positions from Nursery to Young Womens to Stake Relief Society with the greatest love, dedication and compassion.

Susan adored her family and they were the center of her life. She gathered them around her at every opportunity possible. Even in her last week she was anxious to have a family get-together for a back-to-school fashion show and family home evening. She adored her grandchildren and doted on them at every opportunity. She was the consummate grandma, always ready to show pictures of the grandkids.

She was a source of amazing strength and faith for everyone, even amidst her suffering her testimony was unwavering. Her loved ones find such great comfort knowing that she has returned to her Heavenly Father with honor.

Susan was loved by all who knew her. She is the kind of person who always built others up and made them feel happy to have known her.

Susan is survived by her husband, and children Christopher Dale (Juliette) Holmes of Las Vegas, NV, Amy Susan (Eric) Hunter of Provo, UT, Sherie Lyn Holmes, Matthew Daitch Holmes, and Robert Michael Holmes all of Pocatello, eight grandchildren, three brothers Gale Hacking, Dale (Jake) Hacking and Ralph Hacking all of Boise, Id.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Dennis Vern Hacking and Phillip Hacking.

Funeral services for Susan will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday September 5, 2007 at the LDS Chapel on the corner of Hawthorne and James. A viewing will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday September 4, 2007 at the Colonial Funeral Home 2005 S. 4th Avenue Pocatello, Idaho and one hour prior to the services on Wednesday at the church.
