Note	Vern was the second child born to Frank and Vera Jacobs Hacking. When he was quite young, his mother died suddenly and his father was hit quite hard with the tragic loss. Vern and his two living sisters were left primarily in the care of his grandparents Henry and Martha Hacking. His uncle Bryce was close to his age and the two of them were inseparable. Vern served in the military in WWII. He worked as a conservationist for many years as he raised his family with his wife, Pauline Tillotson, whom he married 8 October 1943 in Seattle, King, Washington, USA. They had sons Dennis, Phillip (who died as an infant), twins Dale and Gale, and youngest child Ralph. They also had a smiling, curly haired daughter named Susie to brighten their home. They raised their family in the Soda Springs and Rupert area. After Pauline died in 1984, Vern married "Blondie" and they lived in the Boise area until his death in 1997 as reported in the following obituary notice: Printed in the Idaho Statesman, Boise, Ada, Idaho, November 5, 1997: Vernile Jacobs "Vern" Hacking, 77, Rupert, died Sunday [2 November 1997] in Boise. Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday [6 November 1997] at the Rupert Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - West Stake Center. Burial will follow in the Rupert Cemetery.
