Dave was raised in Vernal, Utah, graduating from Uintah High School in 1968. He attended Stevens Henager Business College and SUSC. He was a medic in the U.S. Army stationed in Germany during the Viet Nam War. He was employed by the Veterans Administration for nine years. He completed the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Apprenticeship program as a Journeyman Lineman in 1984. He was employed at Utah Power & Light at the time of his death. He was a member of the Sheriffs Jeep Posse Search and Rescue, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation Ducks Unlimited and the NRA. He was an avid hunter and boater as well as a devoted husband and father. He is survived by his wife; two daughters and one son, Lela Noelle Hacking, Thayne David Hacking, and Tanielle Marion Hacking, all of Richfield; parents, Vernal; grandmother, Marion Swain, Vernal; brothers and sisters, Cole and wife DeAnne Hacking, Vernal; Ann and husband Sam Poff, Vernal; parents-in-law, William and Ruth R.
