Jason Briggs, 18, Provo, died Dec. [2]8, 1984 in and automobile accident in Spanish Fork Canyon. He was born May 20, 1966 in Salt Lake City, to Dr. Leland S. and Mary Woolston Briggs. Jason was educated in Provo schools, graduating from Provo High School with high sports honors in 1984. Jason was active in student government, serving in the Boys Organization of the student body. He graduated from the LDS seminary and was a delegate to Boys State. He was active in sports in high school as a member of the tennis team, track team and football team. In his junior year he started at linebacker for the state championship football team. He participated in many school assemblies and activities and was a leader of the Spirt Group, Green Berets. He loved skiing, waterskiing, boating and excelled in most sports. Jason was a freshman at BYU, participating in the honors program, majoring in pre-medical studies. He was a member of the BYU football team and went with the team to the Holiday Bowl. Jason was an active member of the LDS Church and was an Eagle Scout. He was preparing to go oon an LDS mission. A good and loyal friend to many, who gave him the nickname "Figgs" or Figgy." Jason is survived by his father [Dr. Leland S. Briggs, who died January 11, 1985 from injuries received in the accident], Provo; three sisters, Mrs. David (Lezlie) Wickes, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Kyle (Michelle) Golightly, Proovo; Mrs. Gordon (Rebecca) Hofheines, Provo; grandparents, Harold Woolston, Orem, and Faye Briggs, American Fork. Jason's mother and brother, both of Provo, died in the same automobile accident. See Mary W.
