Note

Deceased Name: Obituary: Elwin Ault CEDAR FORT, UTAH -Elwin C. "Duke" Ault, age 80, passed away on March 18, 2002 after a sudden stroke.

He was born Sept. 22, 1921, in Cedar Fort, Utah, to Clarence William and Ila May Anderson Ault.

During his military service, he met Hazel Glen Groves while stationed at Fort Knox and Fort Campbell, KY. They were married on Apr. 14, 1946, and made their home in Cedar Fort.

Elwin was an Army Veteran and served his country during World War II. He also spent time in the Hawaiian Islands, where he was stationed at Skofield Barracks on the Island of Oahu. Elwin was retired from the Federal Government where he worked as Chief of Engineers and Ammo Demolitions Supervisor at both Deseret Chemical and Tooele Army Depot.

Elwin lived his whole life in Cedar Fort. He loved "his" small town and felt it was his duty to keep an eye on things. Whether he was on a horse, in a dune buggy full of grandkids, or riding around in his little red truck, everybody knew "Grandpa Duke."

He also loved the outdoors. Whether it was herding sheep in the western desert or camping and hunting in West Canyon, he was always happiest sitting around a campfire with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, telling stories of his old rodeo or Mercur mining days. The deer hunts and picnics will never be quite the same.

He is survived by his children, Connie (Skip) Oxborrow, Debbie (Terry) Kirkham, Clarence (Eramie) Ault, Larena (Dave) Beal, Elwyna (Kip) Beal; 16 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four sisters, Geraldine Glover, Necia Coleman, Lexie Fern Gray, Carol Hebertson. Preceded in death by his wife, Hazel; a sister, Donna Fay Ellison; and a granddaughter, Terris Kirkham.

Funeral services will be Thurs., March 21, 2002, at 12:00 noon in the Cedar Fort LDS Chapel. Friends may call Wed. evening from 7-9 p.m. at the Wing Mortuary, 118 E. Main, Lehi, and Thursday at the church one hour prior to services. Interment, Cedar Fort City Cemetery with military honors by the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
