MR., MRS. BARNES A. COOK TO BE HONORED SATURDAY AMERICAN FORK--A reception in the Cedar Fort LDS Ward recreation hall will honor Mr. and Mrs. Barnes A. Cook of Cedar Fort Saturday evening, April 28, beginning at 7:30 o'clock. This respected couple will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary, having been married on April 27, 1908. All friends and relatives are bidden to attend the reception. The couple requests no gifts be brought. A program is planned to begin at 9:30 p.m. Mr. Cook was born October 11, 1887, in Cedar Fort, a son of William and Rebecca Rodeback Cook. Mrs. Cook was born July 20, 1889, in Vernal, a daughter of George Henry and Jane Hacking Southam. Cedar Valley has been the home of Mr. and Mrs. Cook during their entire life, where Mr. Cook engaged in farming and livestock raising. They have six sons and six daughters: Sheldon B., Mrs. Ralph (Mabel) Smith, Mrs. Ralph (Reba) Kitchen, American Fork; Thayrel V., Mrs. Bert (Edris) Karren, Vernal; Marion S., Kaysville; Mrs. Richard (Arvilla) Taylor, Donald S., Salt Lake City; Rulon W., Lehi; Mrs. Cecil (Florence) Henke, Draper; Bernard H., Mrs. Cloyde (Maxine) Harris, Ceadr Fort. They also have 58 grandchildren and one-grandchild. -The Daily Herald, April 22, 1958, transcribed by Rhonda Holton 60TH ANNIVERSARY TO BE MARKED IN CEDAR FORT LEHI--The children of Barnes A. and Alice Southam Cook, Cedar Fort, invite all their friends and relatives to an open house of their parents in honor of their parents 60th wedding anniversary, to be held Saturday, April 27, at the Lehi Riding Club, Fifth West and Second North, from 6 until 9 p.m. The couple requests no gifts. They were married in Provo on April 27, 1908. The marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple two months later. Mr. Cook was born October 11, 1887, at Cedar Fort, a son of William and Rebecca Rodeback Cook. He was a well-known farmer, a former irrigation company officer and constable of his community. He has held various church positions. Mrs. Cook was born July 20, 1889, at Vernal, a daughter of Henery and Jane Hacking Southam. She adopted Cedar Fort as her home at a young age, following the death of her mother, making her home with an aunt and her grandparents. Gifted in public speaking and in the writing of poetry she has been in much demand to aid in the community and church affairs in that capacity. She has also been a faithful church worker since the age of 13. She directed the Singing Mothers Chorus for 12 years and has done a geat deal of genealogical work. Mr. and Mrs. Cook have lived at Cedar Fort their entire married life, where they remain well and very active. They maintain a hospitable home in which their large family members and many friends always find a hearty welcome. Their 12 children are: Sheldon B., Bernard G., Mrs. A. Ralph (Mable) Smith, Mrs. Ralph (Reba) Kitchen, American Fork; Thayrell V., Mrs. Bert (Edris) Karren, Vernal; Marion S., Kaysville; Mrs. Richard (Arvilla) Taylor, Salt Lake City; Rulon W., Lehi; Donald S., Portland, Oregon; Mrs. Cecil (Florence_ Henke, Draper; Mrs. Cloyde (Maxine) Harris, Cedar Fort.
