Phoebe Arlene Parry Calder Birth: Jan. 7, 1934 UT United States Phoebe "Arlene" Parry Calder 1934 ~ 2007 Phoebe "Arlene" Parry Calder, born January 7, 1934, to Melvin and Phoebe Parry in Montwell, UT, died peacefully in her sleep on Feb. 23, 2007, at the Uintah Care Center in Vernal, UT. She is having a great reunion in Heaven with those who have gone on before her. Arlene was a sweet and kind woman who accomplished the great task of nurturing and caring for her nine children. She loved her grand-children and great-grandchildren also. Arlene married Glade Hacking Calder in the Salt Lake Temple on June 4, 1954. She was active in the LDS church and served faithfully in many capacities. She and her husband, who was in the Air Force, were stationed in many different places in the U.S. and the Orient. She was always serving the Lord and helping the gospel to grow. She and her husband served in Phoenix, AZ as service missionaries on the church farm teaching English to the migrant workers. She really loved the people she served. Arlene led a very active life, always traveling with her husband and children wherever he was stationed. She loved to sew for her family, read books, and of course travel. She enjoyed music, poetry, shopping, and raising African violets. She is survived by her nine children-Pamela (Keith) Warner, Shanna Koran, Alan (Shari) Calder, Patricia (Bryan) Duncan, Wallace (Leslie) Calder, Dianne (Joe) Batty, David (Kristi) Calder, Paula (Dave) Sageser, Rebecca (Hans) Wentzel; 28 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; brothers Con (Carolyn) Parry, Delane (Pat) Parry and Bruce (Pat) Parry; and sister-in-law Telitha Parry. Arlene is preceded in death by her husband Glade Calder, her parents Melvin Leroy Parry and Phoebe Hullinger Parry, and her brothers Jerry Parry and Jim (Olive Rich) Parry. Funeral services will be held Tues. Feb. 27, 2007, at the Ashley/Maeser Chapel at 11:00 a.m. A viewing will be held on Mon., Feb. 26, 2007, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Thompson Blackburn Mortuary, and prior to the services on Tues. Feb. 27 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Arlene's family would like to thank the staff of the Uintah Care Center for their loving and devoted care of our mother. Compassionate Service provided by Ashley 1st Ward. Internment will be at the Vernal Memorial Park under the direction of Thompson Blackburn Mortuary.
