Lila Prescott Colton, of Orem, died Tuesday, October 9, 2007 of Causes Incident to Age at the Stonewood Manor in Orem, Utah. She was born September 19th, 1918 in Francis, Summit County, Utah to Lorin and Hazel Lefler Prescott. She was the sixth child and fourth daughter. She graduated from South Summit High School in Kamas.

She attended BYU. After 31 years, she retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1973. She married Larry J. Colton in the Salt Lake Temple on April 28, 1961. She was an active member of the LDS Church, serving in many positions. She served a full time mission in Independence, Missouri, 1987-1988. A temple worker for many years, she served in the Provo and Mt. Timpanogos Temples. She worked especially hard on family genealogy traveling to many parts of the United States, Canada, England and Scotland searching records for her kindred dead. She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry, and all of her brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her step-children Pamela (Roland) Schubert of St. Ansgar, Iowa; Gary (Lou) Colton of Roosevelt; Renae Boice of Eagle Mountain; and Julie (Marshal) Garrett of Logan. She had 17 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held Sat. October 13, 2007 at 11 a.m. in the Cascade Chapel at Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 S. State St., Orem. Friends may call Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home and also 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to the services on Saturday.
Interment will be in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
